Why use Firestable™ FS 2.0
Firestable™ FS 2.0 thermal barrier spray foam is the only Equivalent Thermal Barrier spray foam on the market. The thermal barrier is built right into the foam. Like sheetrock, Firestable™ FS 2.0 needs nothing applied on top of it to meet the building code. Like sheetrock, it can be used over other foamed plastic to make those plastics code compliant. Like sheetrock and unlike other SPFs, as its thickness increases, so does its fire resistance time (15min, 20 min, 30min).
How is a thermal barrier spray foam different from other closed cell spray foams?
Firestable™ FS 2.0 can be installed by itself or over other closed cell foams or over EPS or XPS foam board without the need to cover it. No other spray foam on the market can be left exposed without adding additional protection in order to be code compliant because it is Monolithic.
What does Monolithic truly mean?
Monolithic means that it has the same fire retardancy throughout the entire volume of the foam. So as soon as Firestable™ FS 2.0 is sprayed it is code compliant and it creates what we at Firestable™ call “Zero Risk Window”. It can be left exposed without the need to cover it with an intumescent coating or any other thermal barrier protection like gypsum board, cementitious or cellulosic covering.
What are the benefits of Firestable™ FS 2.0’s “Zero-Risk Window”?
The benefits of having a “Zero-Risk Foam” are that once it is sprayed you don’t have to worry about returning to spray intumescent coatings and there are no-call backs for damage to the intumescent coatings by other trades or occupants of the building. If an electrician cuts an outlet box into the foam it is still code compliant.
Can Firestable™ FS 2.0 be used as a hybrid system with fiberglass?
Yes FS.2.0 can be sprayed at 2” in order to achieve your water barrier and vapor barrier, then you can add fiberglass to create a less expensive hybrid system.
Is Firestable™ FS 2.0 environmentally friendly?
Yes, it is water blown so it does not contain any harmful blowing agent and is made up of 25% recycled content.
What are the best applications for Firestable™ FS 2.0?
Any building that you want to leave the spray foam exposed like commercial & industrial buildings, metal buildings, restaurants and agricultural buildings to name a few. Check out the charcoal gray for use in parking garages.
What other benefits does Firestable™ FS 2.0 have?
Firestable™ FS 2.0 is available in multiple colors (CLOUD WHITE & CHARCOAL GRAY) and is FEMA compliant, tornado/wind uplift approved.
Is it cost effective versus HFO foams?
Although it is a water blown spray foam with a lower R-Value than HFO spray foams, the elimination of covering the foam with products like intumescent coatings makes it very affordable. Contact your Service Partner sales associate to walk you through the Firestable™ FS 2.0 cost calculator.
