The Original BIBS® for Canadian Applications

A proven, state-of-the-art insulation system utilizing specially manufactured fiberglass blowing wool behind a proprietary fabric

BIBS Logo - Blow-In Blanket System

Why BIBS® System Canada?

Unlike other insulation systems that may leave voids or gaps, the BIBS system Canada creates the perfect fit, creating R-value effectiveness that meets building standards for many uses and is also non-flammable.

R-Value Effectiveness

The BIBS system Canada forms a seamless blanket of dense-packed fiberglass insulation that completely fills around pipes, wires and other objects inside the cavity to maximize thermal efficiency and eliminate costly voids and air gaps. This process helps provide you with the highest, full cavity effective R-values attainable today.

Flexible for Any Use

The BIBS system Canada is a premium insulation that fits any blueprint, any design configuration, and any size home or commercial building project. The BIBS system Canada can be used in retrofit and new construction (both wood and steel frame), residential, industrial, agriculture and commercial buildings, including ceilings and floors, or wherever acoustic control is needed.

Non-Flammable and Non-Combustible

The BIBS system Canada is naturally non-flammable. The system utilizes a proprietary fabric, plus tested and approved fiberglass blowing wools that meet ASTM C764 Testing Criteria for smoldering combustion and ASTM E 136 for non-combustion.

Meets Building Standards

The BIBS system Canada meets the following standards: International Building Code, International Residential Code, and International Energy Conservation Code. The BIBS system Canada has been evaluated and accepted by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre CCMC #13198R & 11790R.

BIBS® System Canada Availability and Installation

Placing a measured density of fiberglass blowing wool behind the BIBS system fabric creates a uniform R-value throughout the entire cavity. The amount of insulation you need depends mainly on the climate you live and local codes, and it must be installed properly to achieve the marked R-value.

Uniform R-Value Across Applications

The BIBS system Canada creates a seamless blanket of insulation that perfectly fits to any size shape. The application of placing a measured density of fiberglass blowing wool behind the BIBS system proprietary fabric creates a uniform R-value throughout the entire cavity and helps control air infiltration.

The BIBS system Canada is a proven, state-of-the-art insulation system utilizing specially manufactured fiberglass blowing wool installed in the walls, floors, attics, and cathedral ceilings behind a proprietary fabric. It maximizes thermal efficiency and eliminate costly voids and air gaps to provide the highest R-values attainable today.

Approved Use Fibers

The BIBS system Canada uses best-in-class product components and partners with leading manufacturers of insulation products to create one of the leading high-performance insulation systems available today. Approved use fibers for the BIBS system Canada include CertainTeed InsulSafe® SP, InsulSafe® XC and Optima®, Johns Manville Climate Pro® and Spider, and Jet Stream® ULTRA and Jet Stream® MAX.

Thermal Resistance

The BIBS system Canada delivers higher R-values than traditional insulation alternatives, saving from costly heating and cooling expenses. ASTM C-518 tests for the BIBS system show the following R-values:

  • 3 1/2” . . . . . R-15 (R-4.23 per inch)
  • 5 1/2” . . . . . R-23
  • 5 1/2“ . . . . . R-24 using InsulSafe® XC and Jet Stream® ULTRA

Building Standards

The BIBS system Canada meets the following standards: International Building Code, International Residential Code, and the International Energy Conservation Code. It is in line with the provisions to protect public health and safety, as well as those that help avoid unnecessary costs. It meets the regulations for one- and two-family dwellings of three stories or less, and it meets the established requirements for energy efficiency.

Acceptances

The BIBS system Canada has been evaluated and accepted by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre CCMC #13198R & 11790R. The CCMC, which is a part of the National Research Council of Canada, gives the construction industry a national evaluation service for non-standardized products, materials, services and systems in all construction types.

This chart shows the R-values attainable in Canada with BIBS versus Batts given framing and insulation densities. When conventional batts are installed in non-standard cavities or in irregular framing, batts must be cut-to-fit for these areas. This often creates gaps that may reduce the efficiency of the building and allow heat or air conditioning to escape. For these reasons, the BIBS system Canada represents a formidable offering when compared to traditional insulation products.
