Mineral Wool

Stone wool, or mineral wool, is made from volcanic basalt rock and slag.

Mineral wool and stone wool insulation is denser than traditional insulation products - allowing it to excel in sound absorbency and fire resiliency. Mineral wool has a non-directional fiber orientation which gives the insulation some unique and valuable characteristics. Stone wool is water repellent and vapor permeable. It does not contribute to the development and spread of fire or the release of toxic gases. Completely resistant to rot, mildew, mold and bacterial growth - stone wool contributes to a safer indoor environment.

Stone wool embodies dimensional stability as it retains its characteristics over time. Changes in temperature and humidity minimally affect the size and performance of the product. The long-term higher R-value of stone wool is unaffected by moisture due to the inherent drying potential of the product.

Mineral wool is offered as both a light-density batt insulation and high-density board insulator. It is available for steel and wood stud structures.
