Summer heat can cause a drastic increase in a customer’s energy bill$. One of the hottest places in a home-owners house during the summer is without a doubt the attic.
When on the job, take a look at the attic access and look for improvements. If there is a staircase with a door leading to the attic examine the door and determine if it is an exterior door or not. If not, recommend that the home owner replace the door for an exterior one. Exterior doors are made to help stop heat transfer which is why placing one leading to an attic is a great idea. It will help keep the cool air in during the summer and cool air out in the winter.
If your customer has a pull-down stair case you can refer to this blog post on insulating a pull down attic.
