Reflective Insulation or Radiant Barriers are a great addition to Metal Buildings as well as Post Frame Buildings when used in conjunction with Fiberglass Insulation. These barriers provide reflective properties that greatly reduce the amount of radiant energy that passes through the building envelope. The net result is a more energy efficient building.
Reflective Insulations can also be used as a stand-alone product; however, great care should be taken when using this application to insure that the product is installed according to the manufacturers specifications. In order to obtain the stated R-Value, a dead air space must be achieved and maintained over the life of the building.
Service Partners MBI Division offers a multi-purpose reflective bubble insulation for use in Metal and Post Frame Buildings. It is available in both single and double bubble with options of foil on foil facings or foil on one side with a white polyethylene facing on the other. The product is offered with a square edge or a staple tab edge. An integrated tape tab is also available, which eliminates the need to tape the seams with facing tapes.
