Thermoguard Insulation Company began operation in the fall of 1951 less than
one mile from its present location. Its main focus was the manufacturing of
cellulose insulation installation machinery. In 1955 Thermoguard began
manufacturing cellulose fiber insulation primarily to provide material to the
company's insulating contracting business. In 1983 Thermoguard opened another
manufacturing plant in Billings, Montana. With the plants in Billings, Montana
and Spokane, Washington they are able to service the entire Northwest.
In 1990 Thermoguard was one of the first companies in the United States to
change from hammer mills to a fiberizer in its production of cellulose insulation.
The fiberizer reduces paper stock to a form similar to the original paper pulp.
This produced a lighter and more thermal effective cellulose insulation with a
higher R-Value.
The Thermoguard cellulose fiber is excellent for blowing into cavities and
sidewalls because it will blow around wiring and obstructions better than long
fibered insulations. The natural cellulose fiber is non-irritating to the skin
and easy to install. The product contains no asbestos, mineral fibers, or glass
fibers. It is manufactured from 100% recycled paper. The organic cellulose fiber
is by nature a very effective insulation material. The natural insulation area
of the hollow cellulose fiber has been increased many times by its separation
into soft fluffy mass. In this way, air spaces are created around the fiber in
addition to the original air space inside the fiber. The fibers are chemically
treated during the manufacturing process to provide permanent resistance to fire,
decay, and various pests.
The Thermoguard cellulose insulation is manufactured in modern production
facilities. Strict quality control procedures result in a premium quality insulation
material in every bag. The insulation is manufactured under the classification
service of Underwriters Laboratories and bears the UL listing mark on every bag
indicating compliance with the ASTM standards for cellulose insulation and the
Consumer Products Safety Commission interim safety standard for cellulose insulation.
All Thermoguard insulation products meet the flame-spread requirements for Class I
building materials as specified by all building codes.
Thermoguard supports the cellulose segment of the insulation industry as a member
of the Cellulose Insulation Manufactures Association, a trade association that
represents the interests of cellulose insulation products through out the United
States.
